About

Based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training, this course will give you the tools to manage stress, anxiety and pain. It is recognised worldwide as a comprehensive introduction to mindfulness meditation and compassion. There will also be the opportunity to attend a half-day retreat during the course.

This course will consist of a maximum of 12 participants. We will meet once a week for a 2 hour session, with an optional half day retreat around week 6. We will come together in a safe and supportive environment that includes a mixture of guided practice, reflection and group discussion.

Practical tools You will gain tools and techniques, learn the theory and neuroscience behind mindfulness plus experience live mindfulness practices and participate in group discussions, exploring patterns of thinking and feeling and how mindfulness may help to change these patterns.

Four practices We will explore the following, which will all be provided as MP3s or videos: -    Mind/body connection -    Mindful movement -    Breath awareness -    Loving kindness

The course requires a commitment to daily practice (approximately 30 minutes).
